Atlanta Streets Alive!!! October 7th!!

On Sunday October 7th, 2012, Atlanta Streets Alive will return to North Highland Avenue for four hours — from 2pm-6pm.

Two miles of North Highland plus one mile of Virginia Avenue plus just about two miles of the brand new Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail means we will have almost FIVE miles of car-free community space to ride, walk, play, dance and rock and roll.

Look for activities all along the route including local acoustic musicians, a capella groups, marching bands, alongside classes such as salsa dancing, yoga, zumba and thousands of people out riding their bikes.

Ways you can participate:
1) Join us in the Great Atlanta Halloween Bicycle Parade that will lineup at 1:30 on the south side of the route (P’Cheens) and take off at 2pm.
2) Create your own tactical urbanism project and submit your ideas to win a $50-$100 prize to cover the costs of implementation (check out Blockee.com for ideas on tactical urbanism projects)
3) Organize an activity or class such as yoga, belly dancing, street hockey, bike polo, zumba, salsa, bootcamp, tennis match, a cappella, band or anything you can imagine that is human-powered and full of amusement. (No outside vendors allowed, no sales, just pure activities) Register here: www.AtlantaStreetsAlive.com/activity
4) Share this with all of your friends, family and neighbors to be sure they take advantage of 5 miles of car-free human powered amusement for just four hours on Sunday, October 7th.
It’s all about creating safer, healthier, more livable Atlanta streets, for all to enjoy.
